Archery Camp 2010 & 2011

September 14, 2010

Dear David, Becky and the rest of the CrossTimbers Ministry Staff:

It was a distinct pleasure and blessing beyond measure to be invited back to teach seminars again, especially as a member of a team dedicated to facilitating God’s plan for us as fathers, sons and especially as disciples. I hope that my greatest gift to the camp was simply that I clarified through my words, teachings and actions that I was not at the helm, but that I was simply a mouthpiece for a God that wants families to spend time together in His majestic outdoors; simply put, our presence was not our gift, it was His; He gets the Glory.

We talked for a bit about my philosophy, honed by God’s words, on talents, passions and spiritual gifts. I fundamentally believe, and was taught by a good friend, that we are all part of a mosaic – each of us are different but together we make a beautiful picture for God when we are actively employing our talents passions and spiritual gifts while pursuing or fulfilling God’s purpose for us.  When we use those talents, passions and spiritual gifts to glorify Him, He does enrich our lives, fill us with joy and uses us to be blessings to other people.

I hope sharing the insight God has placed in my heart affords people the opportunity to see that many times staff and instructors are taught infinitely more than we teach. I left camp a bit wiser as a father and husband, a little more humble as a servant to a Loving and Living God and with better “listening” skills than I arrived with.

What I saw at camp warmed my heart. I witnessed parents actively engaging their children. I saw legacies building… and legacies being born. I saw a family from all regions of Oklahoma and beyond bent on glorifying God and enjoying the outdoors together. More than that, I truly saw the body of Christ through actions and words all around me. What a blessing it was to again experience the joy of Christ outdoors, and what a gift it was to be used as a mouthpiece and a servant to further mold young minds into lovers of the outdoors and moreover, of lovers of the Bridegroom himself.

I’m looking forward to being both a mouthpiece and a student again in 2011! Thanks for having me.

In His grip,

Kevin Reese

Lover of an amazing God!
